ALBUM: OUT OF THE WOODS
He was about 12 years old, he took a walk down town
Nothing much to do, but have a look around
He heard a pounding beat down an alley way
There was a party goin’ on – a Latin Band was playing
The guitar did its thing and someone started to sing
Giving it all she could and man she sounded good
The boy stood off to one side with a smile on his face
Three drummers working hard and a big man on the bass
A bunch of kids he didn’t know were dancing fancy steps
And the women in long dresses knew how to move their hips
Old people too approved of the groove
Before our boy knew, his body made him move
He ran the whole way home ‘cause he knew he was late
Told ma what he had seen and what made it so great
She seemed to understand how he felt about the band
She was a kid once too back when rock was new
Ma gave the okay – he could learn to play
And if he had his way – he’d make them dance one day
It seemed like yesterday, but it was twenty years ago
Now he has a wife and a boy who’s three years old
They come visiting his mom, they take a walk down town
One May they heard a band, playing that Latin sound
The man could not believe, how his boy could move his feet
Was it something in the air or something about the beat?
